An autobiographical poem exploring first-generation assimilation and intergenerational transformation, told through the lens of the Hindu epic, “The Ramayana.” Through rhyme, meter, prose and music, this piece chronicles the search for and recreation of the fabled ancestor of the violin, invented by the demon(ized) King Rāvan, echoing a song through the underworld of Manhattan.
