UNITED SOLO THEATRE FESTIVAL™, established as the world’s largest solo theatre festival, had its inaugural season in Nov. 2010 in Theatre ROW on 42nd Street in New York City. The program offered forty-seven productions by artists from three continents, six countries and seven states.

In 2010, we presented the work of emerging artists as well as respected veterans, such as Austin Pendleton (a director who brought three solo performances), Jelena Stupljanin (European movie star, a lead in Cirkus Columbia by Oscar-winning director, Danis Tanovic), Suzen Murakoshi (an actress directed by Obie Award winner Ching Valdes-Aran), Donald Molosi (TV star from Botswana), Bill Bowers (NYU professor of pantomime, also popular from his Broadway appearance as Zazu in The Lion King). Ten shows have been sold out. Cherry Jones, Sarah Paulson, and other well-known figures came to watch the art of solo performance on stage.

The 2010 edition of United Solo, the world’s largest solo theatre festival, concluded with a closing ceremony at the Theatre ROW NYC on November 21st, 2010. There were many reasons for celebration, including high attendance, and impressive donations that have been collected through the Festival to support The Actors Fund. The Festival board gave awards to performers for their excellence in solo theatre. Four-time Academy Award nominee Marsha Mason joined the event to present the awards.
