UNITED SOLO THEATRE FESTIVAL™ is an annual international festival for solo performances held in New York City. The Festival explores and celebrates the uniqueness of the individual through a variety of one-person shows. Productions are selected from open submissions and presented on stage at the highly acclaimed Theatre Row, located in the heart of the New York City theatre district on 42nd Street. Renowned solo performers and new talents bring their works in many categories (e.g. storytelling, puppetry, dance, multimedia, documentary, musical, improv, stand-up, poetry, magic, performance art, tragedy, or comedy). Our artists benefit from being presented by United Solo, a company made up of artists and producers with vast experience in solo performance. Theatre companies are given the opportunity to reach out to the industry, generate income from ticket sales from up to eight performances at the Festival, and performers receive media attention through previews, profiles, and reviews.

PARTICIPATION INFORMATION:

ACCEPTANCE & PARTICIPATION FEE
The United Solo Team will select the performances that will be presented at the Festival. Our goal is to curate an event that provides opportunities for a diverse group of artists, including well-established performers and emerging talents. Accepted shows will be notified via e-mail, and will be provided with a participant's packet and mandatory forms. These forms must be completed and returned to us within one week of the notification date, and accompanied by a nonrefundable $945 participation fee. The number of shows accepted this year is limited. Therefore, some shows may be placed on a waiting list. If so, you will be notified accordingly.

BOX OFFICE & TICKETING
United Solo handles all aspects of ticketing and Box Office. The base ticket price is typically around $40. Artists will receive a fee of 20% of box office net sales from each performance.

PRODUCTION
Selected productions may present up to eight performances at the Festival. Upon acceptance to the Festival, productions will be given one guaranteed performance slot in an up-to-50 seat black box theatre. Depending on the show’s popularity during the advanced ticket sales period, shows that sell all their tickets early will be offered an additional performance slot. If the additional performance sells quickly as well, the Festival participant may be offered additional slots.

TECHNICAL
Artists are advised to keep the technical requirements of their show very simple. The venue is equipped with basic lighting and sound capabilities. Storage space in the venue is minimal. Since the space is shared by all shows, you may not store any props, set pieces, or costumes in the venue. Each show will have one cue-to-cue technical rehearsal in the venue.

CHANGEOVER TIME
There will be a maximum of 15 minutes before and after your production to load in and out of the theatre and dressing room. This includes 5 minutes for the audience to enter.

VISAS
If the performer or anyone in your production team is not a US citizen (or not a green card holder), you will have to file for a visa to enter the US and perform at United Solo upon acceptance to the Festival. This most likely will incur additional costs that the participant will need to be prepared to cover, depending on what type of visa is required.

PARTICIPANTS PROVIDE
• A fully prepared, rights secured, audience-ready production. (If the performer or stage manager is a member of the Actors’ Equity Association and your show is accepted to the Festival, you must obtain and sign the Equity Showcase Code, as the producer of your show. The Festival will be merely the presenter).
• All contractual, technical, and promotional materials on time when requested.
• All travel and living expenses.
• Your extra promotional and publicity materials (press releases, posters, postcards, on-site promotions, flyers, and anything else that will help draw attention to your show).
• Extra technical equipment not available at the venue (i.e. projectors, extra microphones, fog machines, keyboards, etc.)
• Respect the health and safety regulations, updated and provided before the Festival.

UNITED SOLO PROVIDES
• The opportunity to present solo works at the prestigious Theatre Row in the world‑famous theatre district on 42nd Street in New York City.
