Tragically weird. Unnecessarily sexual. Two Cats on a Date is a mixed-media solo show in which one woman plays two cats whose romantic dinner kaleidoscopes into a world of intergenerational regret. With a deceptively simple set, Griffin creates an immersive feline universe that she guides the audience through—at times by force. It’s a nonstop, deranged adventure with a surprising amount of heart, exploring family trauma, PTSD, and how we come to hurt the ones we love. Two Cats on a Date made its international debut at the Edinburgh Fringe this past August, and was written and produced by Griffin Kelly and Shozo Okada. Kelly (who stars) is an Ashland, Oregon-born actress, writer, and comedian known for playing Lynn Conway in HBO’s Book of Queer. Okada (who directs), is an award winning filmmaker and editor based in Los Angeles.
