Production Management
Conduct research into all aspects of production, keep track of production budgets and scheduling, maintain artist contracts, and research legal and copyright issues. Familiarity with contracts is a plus. The ideal candidate is interested in a career in theater administration.
Stage Management
Assist the director in the rehearsal process by recording and keeping track of blocking and lighting, sound cues, scheduling rehearsal times, and maintaining communication between the director, the performer, and the creative team. Intern may be called upon to run the light and soundboard during performances. Stage management experience strongly preferred.
Technical Direction
Assist with carpentry, coordination of builds and strikes, maintenance of spaces, equipment and materials, and various errands and administrative tasks. Applicants should be extremely well-organized and interested in helping with the day-to-day coordination of all scenic, lighting, costume, and sound needs for United Solo productions. Flexibility and commitment are a must.
Marketing
Spearhead marketing campaigns that include web and social network advertising, printed materials, and brochures, to advertise special offers and programming. Intern assists with the distribution of marketing materials and press kits, conducts marketing research, and processes ticket requests. The ideal candidate is interested in theatrical marketing and publicity.
Development
Assists with individual, foundation, corporate and government fundraising initiatives. Responsibilities include assisting with the coordination of special events such as opening night parties and benefits, drafting correspondence, conducting donor research, processing gift acknowledgements, and learning grant writing. The ideal candidate is interested in a career in development and fundraising.
Editing
A great opportunity for a freelance editor or a journalism/media/linguistics student. Responsibilities include editing, writing, proofreading, and blogging. The ideal candidate must have an excellent grasp of verbal and written English.
Photography
Looking to supplement your theater photography portfolio and develop relationships with working theater professionals? Photographers will have access to rehearsals and performances.
Videography
Videographers will be responsible for shooting and editing a video material for public distribution. A keen eye and sense of dynamic images, high‑quality lighting, and sound are desirable.
Merchandise Design
Create and assist with the design of United Solo merchandise and memorabilia.
