LEGACY is a heartfelt solo performance by Emmy Award-winning artist Sharon Nyree Williams, charting her journey from her roots in North Carolina to her multifaceted life in Seattle as an artist, activist, leader, and athlete. Through poetic storytelling, humor, and music, Sharon examines themes of culture, family heritage, athletics, leadership, and trauma, posing the timeless question: What will my legacy be?
Created with support from the Seattle Symphony’s Communities Stages Fund, LEGACY premiered to an audience of over 350 at Benaroya Hall (Seattle). Attendees raved, “I laughed, I cried, and I felt all the emotions.” Under Sharon’s masterful storytelling, dramaturgy by Christine Sumption, direction by Naho Shioya, and music by Michael Owcharuk, audiences are invited to reflect on their own stories, making LEGACY a transformative experience.
This personal yet universal performance weaves moments of triumph and trial, offering vivid reflections on participation in athletics, the complexities of Arts Administration, the impact of gun violence, and the enduring power of community. LEGACY celebrates resilience, purpose, and the indelible marks we leave behind.
