Starting with a gruesome discovery in her backyard that would haunt her for decades, to being roofied then stalked by a machine gun-toting ex-boyfriend, a former journalist & runway model shares misadventures of growing up wild in the Miami fast lane with cocaine cowboys, rock stars and killer con men.
What starts off as an escape from an unhappy home spirals into an odyssey of dangerously close encounters on the dark side of the beach. This autobiographical 70-minute solo show vividly captures the mayhem and magic of growing up in Miami during the ’80s & ’90s when it was the drug and modeling capital of the US. Kim escapes this turmoil to pursue the “normal” family and career she yearned for as a child.
Through the power of storytelling, spoken word, and multimedia, Kim’s story emerges from the shadows and into the bright lights of the New York stage,
bringing her healing and victorius transformation full circle.
Kim Smith is a playwright & performer, writer/author, naming strategist and proud mom of three GenZ adults who love each other and never fight.
