In this compelling one-man show, we meet Jackie, a compulsive liar and “recovering” addict, who finds himself sharing at his local AA meeting on the theme of “the lies we tell ourselves.” Through Jackie’s journey, we explore the challenges of coming out to his homophobic family, navigating the highs and lows of love, and grappling with his deep-seated desire for acceptance, all while struggling to understand how to truly give love in return. The turning point arrives when his long-term lover, the only one who remained by his side for more than a year, leaves him. It is only after an encounter with his deceased brother that Jackie finally finds the courage to confront his web of lies. Ultimately, these revelations become the key to liberating himself from both his deceptions and his addictions.
