After graduation with a BA in English and Art from Skidmore College, I was supposed to go to law school. That was the plan. But it was the time of Watergate. All the lawyers were going to jail. So. I accepted a job to chaperone some Juilliard Drama School summer students.
Well, that summer job led to John Houseman, The (City Center) Acting Company, Twyla Tharp, Harry Belafonte, Lincoln Center, ABT, NYCB, NYC’s DOE, the Broadway premiers of Amadeus, Piaf, Tintypes, and Gorey’s Dracula. There were International theatre tours and I ran the entertainment departments for Holland America and Norwegian cruise lines. While at home, I served as editor of the Manhattan Plaza News.
Aside from my lack of marketable performance skills, I’ve never really wanted to appear on stage. Honestly, I have too much respect for the talented performers I’ve been fortunate enough to work with over the years.
However, though no fault of my own, I’ve unintentionally ended up in front of an audience too often. Oops offers a few of those circumstances as best as I recall them.
