‘How can people on the brink of death write love poems…?’ In 2017, Lenka discovered two notebooks written by her grandmother, then a prisoner in a WWII concentration camp in Czechoslovakia. The Czech-Canadian musician transformed her grandmother’s words into Thieves of Dreams, an incredibly touching, moving way to honour history’ (Q on CBC.ca), Canada’s 2023 Juno Award-winning album, and an internationally touring, immersive multimedia performance. A testament to the resilience and creativity of the human spirit, the show, recently highlighted on BBC Radio, has won over audiences from Sao Paolo, Copenhagen, to Sydney with its touching narrative of love evolving and dissolving under the pressure of monumental historical events.
