A mathematically-inclined playwright approaches his fortieth birthday in the wake of the COVID shutdown. Despite having a master’s degree in mathematics he can only find work as a volunteer tutor in low-income neighborhoods and lives with his less-than-understanding parents. As he deals with isolation and a lack of professional and personal success, such as the neurodivergent theatre company that ousted him after agreeing to stage his work, he contends with his Pollyannaish grandmother, his yuppie brother about to get married and a fellow spectrumite far less socially adept. He finds that while the world is not as orderly as mathematics, connections can occur in unlikely places, and while the glass may not be half full, it’s not entirely empty, and things are not over yet.
