Gina does not feel queer enough to have made it to the semifinals of the second annual queer jello wrestling competition. And their mom’s voice in their head isn’t helping. After all, Gina didn’t come out until they were 31 and married to a man. Why did it take so long to figure it out? Part backyard spectacle, part memoir, part queer ecology drag show, Caterpillar Soup blends humor, tenderness, and theatrical experimentation into a gender expansive story of transformation, love, grief, and the courage it takes to imagine ourselves anew.
