Written and performed by Brooke Goldner and directed by longtime collaborator Virginia Ogden, Suspended begins as an ordinary acting exercise before veering wildly off course. As a self-proclaimed “Fuck-Up,” Brooke hijacks the assignment, leading audiences through a fast-paced series of hilarious, awkward, and unexpectedly revealing stories that blur the line between performance and confession.

Originally developed as Brooke Goldner’s senior thesis at Dartmouth College, Suspended received the David Birney Award for Excellence in Theater Arts. Funny, theatrical, and deeply human, it explores the roles we perform, the stories we tell ourselves, and the surprising ways the smallest moments can shape our lives forever. It’s an ode to imperfect families, questionable decisions, the moments we try our hardest to outrun, and the ones that quietly define us whether we like it or not.
