When Frank joins the faculty of his old boarding school, he expects another encounter with the Transcendentals he learned about as a student: Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. Instead, he’s forced to break away from the community he loves in the wake of a sexual abuse scandal, awakening his own inner demons in the process.

Playing a parade of surrogate father figures – a history teacher, a Catholic monk, a hapless headmaster – in addition to himself as a teenager, Frank weaves a narrative that is by turns philosophical, funny, and desperately honest. He guides us from his halcyon schooldays through to being hired as a teacher and houseparent, landing finally in activist opposition to his alma mater, burning his bridges and doing the right thing the wrong way. As Frank charges towards a confrontation with his own brokenness, The Priory assesses the costs of staying loyal, leaving home, and seeking out the True, the Good, and the Beautiful – which are, in their essence, synonymous with the Infinite.
