Tales of a Blerd Ballerina [because my love of Pearl Jam doesn’t ease my struggle] has been described as a “hilarious and honest journey of self-awareness, [and] accepting ourselves [with the] ability/space to laugh at our flaws.” This show came from a desperate need to understand my own awkward black nerd journey of constantly “failing” forward while trying to break generational curses.
During this very special time in history, when know and are constantly told that The Black Community is diverse, brilliant, and creative yet so many of the stories sold surround trauma, brutality, and poverty instead of the humor, light, and yes- incredibly awkward and painfully uncool experiences that can bind us. It’s time for this story.
